Getting into Gear
Never being the sort of people to miss an opportunity, what started as a chat between two acquaintances in the pub has resulted in one of our most exciting clients in recent months.
Our Managing Director, Michael Spencer, plays snooker every week at the Halfway House in Baildon. When fellow snooker player Steve Unsworth was discussing forming a new company ‘VAK Driver CPC’, to provide the training to coach and LGV drivers, he was quick to act.
Not one to pass up a chance to flex his creative muscle Mick suggested we get together to work out how we could support Steve to make his offer truly unique and thus help his long-term success.
We were able to point him in the right direction in terms of working with a Business Link High Growth Advisor and also to Bradford Kickstart. Full of enthusiasm he has found their input to be very helpful both in terms of his actual business planning and the direction he needs to take to grow a strong and sustainable business.
As a result of our offering so complete a service he has also taken CS Communicate on to work on the marketing of the business. We have developed a logo, an effective corporate strap-line (underlining the brand), clear brand identity, a basic website and are helping with the design and writing of promotional materials and newsletters.
As a result of the funding that he managed to attract through the Kickstart Programme he has also had a professional folder (with inserts) and the first VAK Driver CPC newsletter produced, both of which follow the brand guidelines we recommended. These will further enhance the quality of his training provision and underline the quality of the VAK Driver CPC training offer. As an experienced print broker, Phil was also able to negotiate with the printers to do a short sample run of business cards and letterheads (along with the folders) for Steve free of charge.
Most excitingly of all though (for us) is that we are now working with Steve on producing 3D animated presenters for the VAK trainers to use to underline the spoken word in their training courses, where the blue cartoon people who are now an integral part of the VAK CPC brand will take centre stage.
It is fair to say with the help and guidance he has received from Business Link, Kickstart and ourselves Steve has been able to move ahead much more confidently (and successfully) with this business and has already become VAT registered and is increasing staffing levels.
