FREE design - too good to be true? Not for some

Whatever anybody comes up with as an incentive to attract business can often be taken with a pinch of salt. No more so than when somebody offers you something for free! Where’s the catch is normally the first reaction, well it’s usually mine anyway. What we have found particularly in these difficult, recessionary times is that companies still need brochures, advertising and websites, along with similar marketing material, to be produced but are finding it difficult to get things moving. It’s obviously caution born out of necessity but doing nothing is not a suitable alternative. VAK DriverCPC found themselves in that exact situation. read more

DIY Marketing – training for decision makers!

Here at CS Communicate, we always like to go one step further and are now adding training to our portfolio of services. With many years experience of lecturing in marketing Jonathan has developed a variety of very reasonable short courses specifically to help in the current climate.

These bespoke courses can be delivered to individuals or large groups, equally they are designed to be adapted to individual businesses or specific business sectors, for the moment there are three main courses:

• Shoestring Marketing

– looks at how to get maximum exposure with minimal capital outlay

• Working websites

– shows how to develop copy and basic copywriting skills as well as use of images and basic design and search engine optimisation tips.

• Promotional Planning

– will help you to understand how to write a Marketing Plan that delivers results.

Don’t drop your sails

If all the doom and gloom banded about at the moment is to be believed we’d all be best staying in bed this year and that’s just what some businesses are effectively doing by freezing their marketing budgets.

Yes when times are hard all expenditure should be scrutinized (we’re certainly not sad we moved out of our swanky Leeds City Centre offices 18 months ago!) but you don’t throw the ships sails overboard to reduce the risk of taking in water in choppy seas and nor should you abandon marketing in difficult times. This is the very time to ensure you stay in front of the competition and visible to customers, looking strong. All the pundits say that the clever, determined and responsive will weather the storms and prosper; can you afford not be seen?

Arts Awards - Jonny ‘The Lips’ presents…

It’s rare we say “no” to any request we receive. One (rather strange) request was when Jonathan was approached by Artsmix to present and compare their inaugural Emerging Artists Awards at the Electric Press in Millennium Square, Leeds. This grew from presenting the awards to Jonathan being filmed, with a blacked out face and bright orange lipstick on, in the dark in a cellar in Oakwood, for his lips to be projected on the plasma screens around the Electric Press. Mick may well be the artistic one, but Jonathan is now officially art! read more

Following on from our work rebranding and updating their corporate image, and of course designing their site, we are delighted to have also been asked to handle their PR and other marketing activities to ensure they capitalise on their position as one of, if not ‘the’, most innovative suppliers of Internet Protocol based security and surveillance systems. read more
