FREE design - too good to be true? Not for some

Whatever anybody comes up with as an incentive to attract business can often be taken with a pinch of salt. No more so than when somebody offers you something for free! Where’s the catch is normally the first reaction, well it’s usually mine anyway. What we have found particularly in these difficult, recessionary times is that companies still need brochures, advertising and websites, along with similar marketing material, to be produced but are finding it difficult to get things moving. It’s obviously caution born out of necessity but doing nothing is not a suitable alternative. VAK DriverCPC found themselves in that exact situation.

Their plight was that they needed to market themselves as providers of recently introduced training by the DSA, to LGV drivers, but the return from this activity could only be long term. Typical catch 22. As one of the Directors, Steve Unsworth, stated “If we don’t market ourselves the business is almost finished before it gets started but to establish creditability and enquiries for training, we need to promote the business”. Purely by coincidence we’d already had some initial discussions with the Directors at VAK through our Kickstart and Train to Gain initiatives. Picking up where we had left off and as a result of much discussion, pacing up and down the office and far too many coffees; the first “what if” moment arrived.

As often happens the first hurdle to overcome was creating the design after we formatted the brief. So we came up with the brilliant idea (some may say crazy) of providing the design work free providing all the artwork and subsequent printing costs were met by VAK Driver CPC. So now this fledgling business has all the necessary stationery, folder pack, newsletter and website. With the addition of a small advert in the National Press the enquiries are now rolling in from all over the country. They can now genuinely follow up the enquiries with quality material that promotes their courses and delivers their message to potential clients. Their first full day training course is now on schedule for later this Autumn – SUCCESS!

Now the second “what if” moment! Knowing that there will be plenty more SME’s facing a similar situation why not make it an offer open to all? So that’s exactly what we have done and let’s face it we all need to help each other. Also by completing the creative work it helps to make decisions such as what you actually want, what it will look like and importantly how much it is likely to cost. There has to be some limits of course so you will need to follow this link to find out more. Or better still, you can pick up the phone and have a chat with us, we’d love to hear from you.
